Write a LinkedIn Headline that Sells 24/7
1-Sentence Storytelling
On LinkedIn, our headlines are the most crucial part of our brand. Your headline will make the reader want to go further or skip your profile.
You can literally make your headline a 24/7 sales rep for you.
But first, let’s look at the DOs and DON’Ts of writing a LinkedIn Headline.
DONT’s:
A lot of previous jobs you worked at (5+ roles).
Showing your skill and not its benefit.
Making it all about you.
Being too vague.
DOs:
One Sentence.
Solution-focused.
All about your audience.
A clear picture of your content.
Now, let’s move on to the main bit. How to do 1-Sentence Storytelling. But first, why exactly this?
1-Sentence Storytelling is supposed to tell the entire story of what you do, who you help, and what the reader can expect while diving into your profile and content. Storytelling makes it more memorable and emotional for the reader.
That is why you need to be clear on a few things:
Who are you writing it for?
What’s your end goal?
Why here and now?
The following are Must-Haves if you want to write a persuasive One-Sentence Story:
Characters:
You only need to have two characters here, the person you help and you!
Do not use “You” ever here. Instead, use the exact terminology for your target audience and yourself.
For example: “Founders”, “Freelancers”, “Marketing Agency Owners”, “Ghostwriters”.
If you think you can help everyone, then let me break it to you, you can’t!
Ending:
Write about the ending your target customers will have after buying your product or your services.
Never tell them about the benefits but talk all about the results they will see.
Paint the future for them! Do not leave anything to their imagination.
Your ending needs to be strong enough to make them scroll more.
Arouse Emotions:
I keep telling you all, “People buy with emotions.” Now to arouse their emotions you want to show them the future they can have.
And you do this by giving them social proof!
For example: 5,000,000+ impressions generated or $5,000,000 in revenue driven for clients.
Personality:
It goes without saying that generic headlines without any personality will never attract high-ticket and long-term clients to your profile.
You solve this problem by adding in your personality. Now, I can’t help you much here since everyone has a different personality.
But make sure whatever you write, follows the plot and is super relative to your target audience and the message you want to convey.
